Weevil Beetle Watercolor Illustration PRINT

10.00 - 30.00

This is a print of my original watercolor painting of a Blue weevil beetle specimen.

The blue weevil beetle (Eupholus magnificus) is a stunning species found in Papua New Guinea. Covered in bright blue scales, it is highly coveted by collectors around the world. These beetles have a unique defense mechanism- they secrete a toxic fluid that deters predators. The larvae of the blue weevil beetle feed on vines, while adult beetles feed on flowers and leaves. The blue coloration is believed to be a form of aposematism, warning predators of their toxic properties. Unfortunately, habitat destruction and over-collection have threatened the survival of this beautiful beetle species.

I printed these on 100% textured white cotton paper with archival inks, for you to get a print with the look & feel of an original watercolor.

I sign each print by hand before shipping so every print has been touched by the artist's hands.

Each painting is designed to provide a death-free alternative to having your favorite insects on your wall.

This watercolor would make a lovely addition to the home of any nature lover or bug collector, or anyone with an appreciation for these unique creatures.
